Wandering WY: Ice Skating David St. Station Downtown Casper

Do you know those Hallmark movies where they have the really sweet outdoor ice skating rink decorated beautifully for the holidays? You might as well be picturing Ice Skating at David St. Station in downtown Casper, Wyoming. In the center of the rink, a gorgeous Christmas tree added to the ambiance.

I didn't get the picture but on one side of the ice skating rink, benches were set in a half-circle around a cheerful warm fire. Warming up from you're fun on the ice you could walk across the street to Metro Coffee Shop and enjoy a steaming beverage of your choice.

The great thing this year was that the ice skating was free for all! A generous donor gave so that both adults and children could skate for free through the end of the season.

One downside of this ice skating rink is that it only lasted until this last weekend. We do have other ice skating opportunities in town, but nothing quite like skating in the open air across from a coffee shop in the heart of historic downtown.

My advice for next year is to plan your trip early so that you don't miss this nostalgic experience. My brothers and I had such an amazing time!

Do you like ice skating? What is your favorite winter activity? Do you have a favorite place to skate?
