When you feel and see and take in all of creation around you, your understanding fades away. There is a realization that you are small, and your soul is infinite. You are a piece to the puzzle and there is a Creator that is behind it all.
There are a few steps that I would like to share as a guest blogger (and thank you Liz for inviting me to share with your audience). Steps for capturing creation that will be fulfilling for those that see your art and therapeutic for your own soul to appreciate all the wonder you have been given.
Steps to Capture Creation
1. Be passionate about seeing the beauty in it all
a. From the smallest organism to the largest landscape.
2. Be sure to know that any photo capturing equipment will do.
a. Everyone is an artist and tells their story differently.
b. Phones
c. Tablets
d. DSLR
e. Point-and-shoot
3. Find a creation subject that speaks to you.
a. Wildlife
b. Macro shots
c. Night shots
d. The sky
e. The grass
f. Anything that is created is a subject.
With those simple steps, you are well on your way to capturing something that is food for your soul.
You are a created being. Your body is mortal; your soul is immortal. You are a part of creation and your soul song is to sing back to it artistically. You are in the image of your Maker; why not create your soul’s song to sing back praises!?
I know from personal experience that my journey is simple: to witness a life well-lived. I want to see beauty in it all. My soul wants to capture creation in a way that tells a story to the audience. And, even if that audience is only you, that is well worth the effort to tell the story. You become captivated by a project that you choose. It becomes a give and take: learning your style, your emotion, and discovering your soul’s song.
First and foremost, do not capture creation to try and earn a quick dollar. You need to appreciate the art for yourself first! This is vital to understanding how to capture creation in its raw beauty.
Secondly, you need to remember to find beauty in any of it. From the cycle of life to the changing of the seasons. Do not stay stagnant let all of creation talk to you.
Finally, do not try and control creation. Let it control you with its ever-changing landscape. Never assume that one landscape is the “same”. Each phase has a new secret to offer.
This is what God the Lord Says, the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all the springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
Isaiah 42:5-7
Open the eyes of the blind so that their soul eyes might see all that the Creator has bestowed upon them even in a broken land.
