As many of you know, I spent last week in Montana working with my grandparents before returning to Cody, Wyoming for my internship. The busy season has begun! This week marks the beginning of the June Guide School and Yellowstone is already full of visitors wanting horseback rides. We took one such family from Virginia out last Saturday on our full day ride up Elbow Creek.
This ride has many of the most stunning views you can find in Paradise Valley and truly explores the nearly untouched splendor of the West. This ride is on a mountain trail so we had to navigate a few obstacles such as downed trees along the way. It also requires a bit of walking on the way down which eases the trip for both horses and riders. Whatever riding experience you have this trip will be a memorable experience!
Often we will take outriders who have very little to no experience which gives us the opportunity not only to share the views but also this special way of life. I am blessed to have been born into a family that still keeps this piece of the West alive. Out there away from cellphones and the internet everything just seems a little bit more clear. It’s like journeying into another time! It does come with its fair share of aches and pains later but it is a small price to pay for an adventure into the rough around the edges rugged beauty of Montana!
When you get back from your ride there are plenty of sweet spots around Paradise Valley to finish your day. You could go relax your tuckered out muscles in Chico Hot Springs or head into town for some well-earned Sushi at Neptune’s Taphouse and Eatery like I did 🙂
Until we meet again 🙂 Happy Trails
